About

Hi, I'm hongry, the developer and writer behind hongry.dev. This site is a personal engineering blog and service hub where I solve recurring everyday frustrations by building web applications myself—and document the practical workflows, public data nuances, and backend engineering lessons learned along the way.

Why This Site Exists

Every time I tried to book concert tickets or register for university courses, my phone clock drifted just enough from the booking server's clock to miss the exact second. Standard weather apps showed broad regional forecasts that missed sudden neighborhood downpours, and arriving at an EV charging station often meant discovering every charger was occupied or out of order. Rather than waiting for someone else to build cleaner tools without intrusive pop-ups, I began building and operating dedicated web services for each problem.

Services I Build and Run & Practical Guides

For every service below, I publish detailed practical usage guides for real-world scenarios, along with technical deep dives into the coordinate systems, browser APIs, and distributed backend architectures that power them. If you are visiting for the first time, start with the usage guide for the service you need.

TrueTime: Millisecond Server Time Check for Ticketing & Registration

Compares a target booking server's standard time against your local device clock with millisecond precision, complete with a 10-second pre-alarm so you never miss the exact opening second.

HereWeather: Hyper-Local Neighborhood Weather

Converts your real-time GPS coordinates into the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) 5 km forecast grid to display hyper-local weather, feels-like temperature, fine dust (PM10/PM2.5), and hourly/weekly forecasts on a single screen.

EV-Lens: Live EV Charging Station Map

Checks nationwide electric vehicle charging station locations and real-time charger availability on an interactive map, with filters for connector type (DC Combo, CHAdeMO, AC 3-Phase, Slow) and charging speed.

Public-Lens: Interactive Map of 19 Public Amenities Near You

Brings together public facility datasets scattered across government ministries and local municipalities onto a single fast map. Data is periodically synchronized from official open data portals (note that actual on-site status may occasionally differ depending on when each municipality updates its source records). Works directly in your browser without installing an app.
